Millions of families have been impacted by COVID-19, and initial data show health and economic impacts have been unevenly distributed across demographic groups. JPMC Institute research has documented large racial gaps in financial outcomes and shown Black and Hispanic families have lower incomes and fewer liquid assets relative to White families, and they will likely bear the brunt of the economic crisis. Understanding the disproportionate economic impacts of the pandemic will be key to targeting aid and promoting inclusive recovery.
