Nature of Work
This is semiskilled work involving the maintenance and repair of city treatment and pumping plants and stations. Work is performed under the continuing supervision of a designated supervisor. The employee may be expected to give guidance and direction to less experienced or seasonal employees.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.- Performs basic maintenance and repair work on plant equipment including pumps, chemical feed equipment, lines, valves, belts, motors, boilers, bar screens and the like.
- Checks heating, ventilation and air conditioning units and systems; makes minor repairs.
- Operates a variety of standard power tools and equipment in plant maintenance and repair activities on a regular basis.
- Performs preventive maintenance on buildings, equipment and plumbing fixtures.
- Performs work as a relief plant operator.
- Maintains records and logs, as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience- Graduation from high school
- One year of experience in work related to plant maintenance
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience
- Possession of a valid Michigan driver's license
