    Nature of Work
    This is semiskilled work involving the maintenance and repair of city treatment and pumping plants and stations. Work is performed under the continuing supervision of a designated supervisor. The employee may be expected to give guidance and direction to less experienced or seasonal employees.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities
    The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.

    • Performs basic maintenance and repair work on plant equipment including pumps, chemical feed equipment, lines, valves, belts, motors, boilers, bar screens and the like.
    • Checks heating, ventilation and air conditioning units and systems; makes minor repairs.
    • Operates a variety of standard power tools and equipment in plant maintenance and repair activities on a regular basis.
    • Performs preventive maintenance on buildings, equipment and plumbing fixtures.
    • Performs work as a relief plant operator.
    • Maintains records and logs, as needed.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.
    Minimum Training and Experience
    Required Education and Experience
    • Graduation from high school
    --AND--
    • One year of experience in work related to plant maintenance
    --OR--
    • Any equivalent combination of training and experience
    Required Licenses or Certifications
    • Possession of a valid Michigan driver's license
