MEDC: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Hiring and Retaining Diverse Talent

Recent studies have shown that businesses with more diverse employees and leadership see an overall improvement in revenue and market share yet many employers note that they struggle to find and retain culturally diverse talent. In this workshop we will discuss the common mistakes businesses make and barriers they create in the area of diversity recruiting. We will also highlight the importance of moving beyond recruitment and into retaining diverse talent. Speaker(s): Sharonda Simmons has over a decade of experience in executive leadership roles in the non-profit sector. She has a passion for building high-performing teams and sustainable agency infrastructure. She has been an integral partner with senior leadership and board members to ensure the mission and vision of the agency are met. Her work in the community both professionally and personally have allowed her to create curriculum and strategic initiatives focused on increasing inclusion and equity within agencies and community spaces.
Sharonda has served as an advocate for marginalized communities, especially youth and families experiencing trauma. Sharonda has worked with hundreds of clients through workshop facilitation and dozens of nonprofits, businesses, and schools. She has done programming for the United Way of Washtenaw County’s Champion for Change program, the University of Michigan, and Michigan State University along with many others.- We will be unable to provide technical assistance for accessing the webinar beginning 30 minutes prior to the start of the webinar.
