    Macomb County Small Business Sustainability Program

    The Macomb County Small Business Sustainability program will make up to $20 million available to help local small businesses impacted by COVID-19. The funds will be distributed as $5,000 grants that businesses can use to offset losses created by the coronavirus pandemic.  

    Eligible businesses are "brick and mortar" establishments in Macomb County with 49 employees or less. Applications will be accepted till June 24 at 11:59 p.m

    A complete application must include

    • A signed W9 (download)
    • Must be signed and dated within 12 months
    • Recent bill (within the last 6 months) that includes the business address. Suitable documents include a rent or mortgage statement, water, gas, electric, or phone bill. The address must match the location you are submitting for a grant.
    • Signed and dated Affidavit (download) - This does not need to be notarized.
    Who is eligible:

    To be eligible for this grant, Macomb County businesses must meet the following criteria:
    • Must have a physical location in Macomb County (office/building/store front).
    • Employ between 1 and 49 employees.
    • Must be a for-profit organization.
    • Businesses must have a valid Employer Identification Number (EIN).
    • Business must have been in business for at least 12 months.
    • Business must showcase a verifiable need for working capital to support payroll expenses, rent, mortgage payments, utility expenses, and/or other similar expenses that occur in the ordinary course of business.
    • Business must be able to verify they have been negatively impacted or experienced a loss in revenue or business due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
    Ineligible for this round of funding includes
    • Those located outside of Macomb County
    • Those that received a grant through the recent Michigan Small Business Relief Program (SBRP) grants distributed by the county.
    • Those that do not own, lease, or rent a building/office/store front in Macomb County
    • Home-based businesses
    • Self-employed or independent contractors (1099 employee)  
    • Businesses with more than 49 employees
