• COVID-19 Workplace Guidelines Presentations and YouTube Videos for Employers and Employees

MIOSHA’s Consultation Education and Training (CET) Division has developed COVID-19 Workplace Guidelines to provide employers and employees with helpful information, related to preventing and controlling COVID-19 exposure in the workplace. This information was developed based on guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Governor's Executive Orders on reopening industries. Employers should continue to review CDC and OSHA websites, to ensure their workplace policies and procedures are based on the most up-to-date information, as information related to COVID-19 is changing rapidly.

In addition to the COVID-19 Workplace Guidelines presentations and videos, developed by MIOSHA CET, construction and manufacturing employers are encouraged to review the information provided by the Dept. of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO) regarding industry best practices. This industry best practice guidance information can be found on LEO’s website

The governor’s order allowed manufacturing workers to resume work on Monday, May 11, as part of her MI Safe Start Plan.

Some of the manufacturing industry specific requirements, contained with EO 2020-77 include:
    • Conducting a daily entry screening protocol for workers and everyone else entering the facility
    • Providing a questionnaire covering symptoms and exposure to people with possible COVID-19
    • Temperature screening as soon as no-touch thermometers can be obtained
    • Creating dedicated entry points at every facility
    • Suspending entry of all non-essential in-person visits, including tours, and
    • Training workers on how COVID-19 is transmitted from person to person, signs and symptoms of COVID-19, steps workers must take to notify the business or operation of signs and symptoms of COVID-19 (or suspected or confirmed diagnosis), and the use of personal protective equipment.

Under EO 2020-77, all manufacturers must require masks to be worn when workers cannot consistently maintain six feet of separation from others, and consider face shields for those who cannot consistently maintain three feet of separation from other workers.
