16 th Annual APACC Gala
“Embracing Tomorrow, Today”
Detroit, Michigan– On Saturday, April 29, 2017, APACC hosted its 16 th Annual Gala, “Embracing Tomorrow, Today” at MGM Grand Detroit. Nearly 700 business leaders including top corporate executives from large U.S. and Asian businesses; leaders from businesses owned by Asian Americans from China, Japan, S. Korea, Taiwan, India among other countries; entrepreneurs; and political and government dignitaries joined to celebrate APACC’s success as well as the surrounding communities.
This year’s event was led by Event Chair Mr. Bing Goei, President & Vice Chair of APACC Board of Directors and Director of the Michigan Office of New Americans and APACC’s Chair of the Board and CFO of Logic Solutions, Inc. Ms. Grace Lee “APIA is one of the largest growing population in both Michigan and the United States,” stated Grace Lee during the program, “As APACC strives to grow, we will continue to the be the one voice to advocate, connect and education for ALL Asian businesses.”
The Keynote Speaker was Austin, Texas’ Jimmy Ferguson. Mr. Ferguson serves as President of Maxtab, Inc. as well as a member of the Board of Directors for the Asian/Pacific Island American Scholarship Fund and is an Advisory Board Member for the Greater Austin Asian Chamber of Commerce. In 2015, Mr. Ferguson received the Department of Commerce Minority Business & Entrepreneur Advocate of the Year Award and in 2016, the Asian American Advancing Justice Change Maker Award. He is also the Owner / Operator of over 23 McDonald’s in the Greater Austin Area over the past 23 years, former Vice Chair and West Division President of the Asian McDonald’s Operators Association (AMOA) and Chairman Emeritus of Asian/Pacific Islander American Chamber of Commerce & Entrepreneurship (National ACE).
APACC ‘s prestigious 2017 Corporation of the Year was awarded to DENSO International America, Inc. Accepting the award on behalf of DENSO was CEO Kenichiro (Ken) Ito. APACC’s 2017 Advocate of the Year was awarded to Patrick Mondro of PNC Bank and a special Leadership Appreciation Award was presented to Chairman Emeritus Ron Shahani, President & CEO, Acro Service Corp.
