    Job Description
    Dana is a global leader in the supply of highly engineered driveline, sealing, and thermal-management technologies that improve the efficiency and performance of vehicles with both conventional and alternative-energy powertrains. Serving three primary markets - passenger vehicle, commercial truck, and off-highway equipment - Dana provides the world's original-equipment manufacturers and the aftermarket with local product and service support through a network of nearly 100 engineering, manufacturing, and distribution facilities.

    This is a 3rd shift position(3rd shift has a Sunday night start).

    General Description with Scope:

    Supervises and schedules the Quality Inspectors/auditors to ensure the appropriate coverage and conformance to requirements at all manufacturing work cells and processes. Gives guidance, direction, and support to the Quality Inspectors. Ensures that the Quality Inspectors are cross-trained and able to perform product inspection and gaging on any part at all work cells. Plans for Quality Inspector coverage on a 24 hour / 7 day operation, on an as needed basis. Verifies that the Quality Inspectors are aware of and correctly performing their required duties and documentation requirements. Manages the shop-floor conformance to the control of nonconforming material process. Initiates containment and short-term corrective actions promptly upon the notification of an internal or external customer concern Performs layered process audits as scheduled.


    Competencies:

    • Functional knowledge of the manufacturing systems, materials, and processes employed at Dana Warren: among them extrusion, cutting-to-length, coating, forging, machining, and welding.
    • Minimum of five years' experience in visual and dimensional quality inspection in an automotive supplier manufacturing environment.
    • Expertise with attribute and variable gages and checking fixtures .
    • Able to efficiently and effectively organize, conduct, and report on containment activities and results.
    • Familiar with applicable portions of customer specific standards, and industry standards including IATF (willing to train in areas needed).
    • Able to function effectively in a fast-paced automotive supplier environment.
    • Functionally capable of using Microsoft Work, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
    • Possess good written and oral communication skills. Able to communicate effectively to fellow quality supervisors, plant management, and subordinates.
    • Able to effectively supervise hourly subordinates in a union environment.


    Key Responsibilities/Deliverables:

    • Supervise the Quality Inspectors reporting to them on their shift. Able to perform all duties of and effectively train the Quality Inspectors to perform inspection and gaging duties.
    • Review and revise inspection procedures and work instructions. Be familiar with and understand the operation and use of all gages and checking fixtures.
    • Manage the control of nonconforming material process on the shop floor: verify that proper part tagging and identification is maintained, that parts are placed in the Hold Cage and logged in, and that parts leaving the Hold Cage are logged out as required.
