    Job Description
    The Powertrain EOL-Test Development and Validation Engineer job responsibilities include but not limited to:
    • Develop and validate vehicle powertrain electronics and electrified vehicle systems test systems for passenger cars and trucks
    • Define, develop, validate testing, interface requirements, release component, testing process specifications/standards for testing of completed vehicle’s powertrain electrical systems utilizing the latest test and evaluation equipment/laboratory, and hardware-in-the-loop simulation tools
    • Develop powertrain electronic test DVP&R and define and carry out all required development/validation testing to ensure achievement of all functional objectives and assure compliance to governmental safety and regulatory, vehicle assembly and vehicle program goals
    • Participate in electrical controller and tester assessments and post-test reviews, including detailed failure analysis
    • Work closely with the chosen electronic ECU suppliers; vehicle assembly plant electrical systems and dynamometer tester suppliers and manufacturing engineering entities to ensure vehicle tests and test systems are robust to vehicle program and manufacturing requirements
    • Test prototype development and finished vehicles for quality purposes for North American, European, Asia-Pacific and Latin American markets and recommend changes to product requirements and test systems specifications as required
    • Provide design direction for present and future powertrain electrical/electronic end-of-line test systems
    • Interface with product development and vehicle manufacturing areas to co-develop and integrate powertrain electrical systems with vehicle manufacturing end-of-line testing systems
    • Coordinate powertrain interface requirements and validate powertrain systems in vehicle
    • Facilitate the development of powertrain electrical/electronic testing with vehicle manufacturing areas and product development teams for powertrain electrical control systems
    • Coordinate end-of-line testing requirements documentation and hold reviews with product development areas and vehicle manufacturing development teams
    • Gather testing requirements and provide definition for software control algorithms
    • Work with vehicle and releasing teams to resolve end-of-line testing related issues on vehicles
    Basic Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electric Drive Vehicle Engineering required
    • 1 year of experience involving electronics, test design, and development
    • Experience with gasoline engine, traditional transmission, electrical propulsion systems and understanding of the equipment, communication interface and system requirements
    • Understanding of vehicle engine and transmission system
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Familiarity with electrical systems test interface tools
    • Knowledge of CAN messaging structure and protocol for the CAN-Bus layer
    • Experience in capturing and analyzing bus messages with various CAN-Bus analysis tools
    • Understanding of keyword versus diagnostic protocols
    • Excellent written and verbal communications skills required along with strong interpersonal skills
    • Knowledge of dynamometer based test systems
    • Programming experience in the following: C++, Visual Basic for applications, MATLAB/Simulink
    • Pseudo code modification, CANalyzer/CANoe/ CANdiva with CAPL Script generation
