Statewide Communications Manager
In this role, you will work with a team of communicators to provide leadership and support for the education, communication, and marketing efforts of MSU Extension (MSUE), specifically 15 district directors serving across the state. You will develop and manage communications and marketing strategy in concert with the district directors and associate director of operations. You will help streamline communication to county governments and other stakeholders and work with editors and designers to manage the development and branding of communications and marketing content (print and digital) for use with stakeholders. You will be responsible for planning, developing, editing, and posting digital content for the MSUE website in consultation with subject matter experts. You will also provide guidance on creative work involved with supporting district director needs, including graphic design, photography, video, and social media campaigns.
You will be responsible for coordinating and scheduling digital outreach efforts, including social media, email marketing and education, as well as write and develop impact-focused stories, marketing materials and legislative reports. You will also participate in and attend regular meetings with MSUE communicators, district directors and leadership. You will integrate and prioritize use of best practices related to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) to identify and assist in the development of materials in support of programming created through a DEI lens that supports growth and understanding of critical issues facing target audiences. You will also review and provide administrative guidance across communications for events, processes, outreach strategies, program delivery and communication pathways to identify and remove barriers in reaching potential participants. Although negotiable, there will be space for this position to work from the campus of MSU in East Lansing, Michigan.
This is a full-time, end-dated appointment, renewable annually based upon continued funding.
Minimum Qualifications (see full description for complete list of requirements)
- Knowledge equivalent to a four-year college degree in communications, journalism, telecommunications, or public relations.
