    Nature of Work

    The purpose of this job is to provide a variety of administrative, accounting, and financial systems management work maintaining accounting and financial records as well as supporting the various computer information systems operating in the department. Develops and maintains financial reports for users of the financial management system along with Systems Administrators.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 
    The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description. 
    • Investigates financial system issues and makes corrections or recommendation of corrective actions needed to resolve the problem
    • Performs financial report design and creation; reconciles data
    • Assists with the preparation of the Annual Financial Report and/or Annual Fiscal Plan 
    • Develops and implements accounting and financial procedures and internal controls; develops and implements financial system modifications and changes
    • Facilitates the department's production of data necessary to achieve department objectives and to ensure that reporting needs can be met effectively and efficiently
    • Designs documents, forms, and reports; develops and implements new procedures to improve record keeping and productivity
    • Prepares or assists in accounting activities and/or budget development as assigned
    • Prepares and reviews department/office and vendor financial reports and statements on a periodic and annual basis
    • Assists in the coordination and use of the department's financial systems
    • Confers with users to assess computer system needs and makes recommendations to management
    • Evaluates and tests systems and upgrades and recommends changes to enhance services
    • Performs related work as required
    Minimum Training and Experience
    • Bachelor's degree in accounting, information systems, or a related field
    --AND--
    • At least two (2) to four (4) years of accounting experience including financial statement preparation, internal control and audits, detailed analysis, investigation, and reconciliation of large amounts of data available through computer systems' reports, inquiries or downloads
    --OR--
    • Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities
