Job Summary- Under limited direction, provides engineering supervision of either the Engineering or Construction unit, or in the Operations & Maintenance division directs on-going fieldwork and related functions. Has full technical responsibility to organize and coordinate work in assigned areas. Attends meetings of boards, commissions, regulatory agencies, and legislative committees, providing professional advice regarding on-going operations or proposed construction. Ensures that regulatory, environmental, and work safety issues are addressed. May be exposed to field hazards and confined areas. Utilizes current county-wide and/or department-specific software to complete assignments.
Is responsible for one of the following assignments: 1.) Drain & Sewer Maintenance/Sewer Metering, or 2) Sewage wastewater treatment /Retention basins/ Pump Maintenance /Electronics. Provides engineering overview and direction to on-going maintenance tasks, assigns priorities to routine and special fieldwork duties, and provides policy and procedure. Prepares operating budgets negotiates rates, and oversees capital improvements. Utilizes current county-wide and/or department-specific software to complete assignments.
Employees of this classification are required to be available for operational problems, equipment emergencies, widespread storms, power outages and other operations and maintenance emergencies as deemed necessary by management after normal working hours, weekends and holidays. Also, employees in this classification are assigned On-Call duties as required by management. - Minimum Qualifications

b. had at least two (2) years of professional engineering work experience directing the operations and maintenance of a municipal waste water treatment system, combined sewer overflow retention treatment basin, water supply, water treatment, storm drain, or sanitary sewer system;
3. Possess a valid Michigan motor vehicles operator's license.
4. Pass the complete examination, including the employment medical for this class.
5. Successfully complete the six month probationary period. -
