    Job Description

    Design System Engineer Roles and Responsibilities:

    • Transmission hardware system responsible (integration and system balancing of all transmission components)
    • Interfacing with individual COEs & DREs
      • Manufacturing
      • Suppliers
    • Development Validation Center
      • Schedules hardware system design reviews to review DRE design proposals as required
      • Coordinate with ACE on BOM and experimental transmission builds
      • Review and approve all change notices ensuring checklists, LL, and E-BPs are updated and aligned.
      • Confirms proto hardware orders and procurement meet LL and E-BPs.
      • Represents CE in managing the “lessons learned” document for the program and ensure that TS receive those updates on a timely manner to update the E-BPs accordingly
      • Reviews component “Validation Completion” status with DVC team periodically & provides update to CE
      • Coordinates DRBTR review and keeper of “follow up items” and decision maker on issuing GIMS for buds of problems
      • Elevate resource issues as needed (CE & Sr. Manager for PRC)
      • Works with Application Engineering to rationalize COE bulletin assessments
      • Responsible for managing BOM complexity
      • Managing changes to avoid CN stacking Ensure transmission BOMs have correct content across vehicle platforms
    • Coordinates data generation and approvals of AES/BES regulatory documents
    • Supports Technical Cost Reductions (TCRs) and Benchmarking of competitive transmissions
    • Work on special projects as needed

    Basic Qualifications:  
    • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or equivalent from an ABET accredited program or equivalent program
    • A minimum of 5 years of automotive industry experience
    • CAD systems knowledge (NX), with the desire and ability to create concepts and conceptualize designs
    • Good fundamental understanding of mechanical structures and automotive systems
    • Good communication and relationship building skills
    • Good basic computing skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Google Suite)
    Preferred Qualifications: 
    • Masters Degree in Mechanical or equivalent from an ABET accredited program or equivalent program
    • Proficient CAD (NX) skills
    • Teamcenter PDM knowledge
    • Automotive industry experience in one or more of the following areas: Automatic Transmissions and Hybrid Components (PIM, E-motors, etc.)
    • Broad vehicle knowledge
    • Benchmarking of Automatic Transmissions and/or Electrified components (e-motors, PIM, etc
    • Ability to integrate requirements into design concepts
    • Ability to present ideas and concepts successfully to all levels of management
    • Ability to productively manage change
