SUMMARY:U.S. -- Nepal Opportunities in the ICT Sector
DESCRIPTION:The U.S. Department of Commerce's Commercial Service\, in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy in Kathmandu\, Nepal\, and the American Chamber of Commerce Nepal\, invites you to a high-impact webinar to help U.S. and Nepali Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) companies gain a better understanding of the market opportunities for their products and services in the U.S. and Nepal ICT sectors\, including government initiatives and policies to promote national ICT ecosystems\, such as the adoption at scale of AI and Quantum computing\, software engineering services\, the development of data centers\, etc.\n\n\n\nAn Overview of Nepal's ICT Sector\n\n\n\nNepal's ICT sector is growing rapidly. In response\, the Government of Nepal (GON) has designated the next ten years as the "Digital Decade\," setting ambitious goals of creating three million ICT-related jobs and generating NPR 3 trillion (approximately USD $22.5 billion) in ICT-related revenue for the nation's private sector and workers. These efforts could unlock additional ICT equipment\, software\, and services opportunities for U.S. companies. It also offers opportunities for U.S. firms to partner with Nepali firms to pursue GON procurements and develop joint products and services for the Nepali or international markets.\n\n \n\nThe GON has also introduced key policy reforms aimed at strengthening its ICT ecosystem to support its Digital Decade growth objectives. For instance\, it has passed an ordinance that allows the Nepali private sector to invest in foreign markets\, including the United States. This will allow Nepali firms to establish U.S. subsidiaries to support their American clients and to invest in U.S. firms.\n\n \n\nAdditionally\, as over 70 percent of Nepali IT companies already work with U.S. clients they are adept at supporting the ICT requirements of American firms. Additionally\, Nepali firms seeking ICT products and services have favorable views of the quality of U.S. offerings\, making Nepal a welcoming market for American firms and providing a strategic opportunity to deepen U.S. exports to Nepal.\n\n \n\nWhy Attend? \n\n	Showcase opportunities for U.S. ICT product and services sales with Nepali government and private sector clients\, including in Nepal's cybersecurity\, AI\, data center\, and emerging ICT sectors.\n	Facilitate business matchmaking for Nepali ICT investors seeking to invest in the United States.\n	Support Nepal's digital transformation through enhanced U.S.-Nepal ICT trade and investment collaboration\, including by connecting Nepali entrepreneurs with the U.S. ICT ecosystem.\n	Identify and address trade and investment barriers faced by stakeholders in both countries\n\nAgenda\n\n\n	Welcome Remarks\n	Nepal's ICT Sector: Key Opportunities\n	Best Practices for Growth in Nepal's ICT Sector\n	Doing Business with U.S. EXIM Bank\n	U.S. ICT Sector Overview\n	Overview of SelectUSA the U.S. Department of Commerce's Inbound Investment Promotion Office\n	Q&A Session\n	Closing Remarks
