David Liu is currently an Executive on the Corporate Development and Global Mergers & Acquisitions team at General Motors (GM), where he works with GM’s senior leadership on strategy / investment projects to transform the company into a global leader in electrification. In addition to supporting GM’s operations in North America, he assists the President of GM International Shilpan Amin in driving growth in GM’s global markets in Asia Pacific, South America, and Europe / Middle East / Africa.
David entered the automotive industry in 2019 when he joined the global supplier Aptiv (formerly known as Delphi Automotive) as an Executive of Corporate Strategy based in Boston, where he led growth strategies in electrification, commercial vehicles, autonomous driving and connectivity / software. Prior to Aptiv, David was a senior member of the Corporate Development team at the industrial conglomerate General Electric (GE), based in Boston, and an investment banker at the global investment bank Deutsche Bank, based in New York.
David is a first-generation immigrant and grew up in the Boston area. He and his family relocated to Michigan in 2021, settling in Birmingham. David received his undergraduate degree at Tufts University (majored in Economics / International Affairs) and his MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. David is active in community services and passionate about supporting efforts to empower the Asian American community. He’s an advisory board member of the GM Asian Connections (“GMAC”) employee group. Outside of work, David enjoys cooking, reading, outdoor activities, and going to Disney World with his daughter Charlotte and wife Sherry.
