In her role as the chief medical officer of Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital, Betty Chu, MD, MBA, leads the medical affairs of the hospital, providing leadership to assure effective and efficient delivery of care, consistent with the patient-centered mission of Henry Ford Health System. As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, she is responsible for corporate strategy design and implementation with regard to clinical operations.

“Dr. Chu has nearly 20 years of experience in patient care and health system management,” says Lynn Torossian, president and chief executive officer of Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital. “Her leadership background, community involvement, and commitment to the patient experience has been a tremendous addition to our dedicated medical staff.”

She is the former president of the Medical Staff, Beaumont Hospital, Troy, and a former board member of Beaumont Health System.

Her numerous recognitions include Crain’s Detroit Business “40 Under 40” in 2010 and an Asian Pacific American Chamber of Commerce Professional Leadership Award.

Dr. Chu is a member of the board of directors of the Michigan State Medical Society as well as the Area Agency on Aging 1B.

She graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School, completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, and received her MBA from the University of Michigan Ross Business School.
