Shilpan A. Amin holds the position of Executive Director, Global Purchasing Program Management. In his role, Amin leads a global team of 450+ Purchasing Program Management and Project Buyer team members whose job it is to ensure GM’s vehicle development planning meets the company’s international objectives for high-quality and profitable new-product launches.

Previously, he served as Director, Strategic Material Performance and Total Enterprise Cost after his position as Director, Global Interior / Safety responsible for Seats and Soft Trim. He has held numerous positions within Global Purchasing and Supply Chain as well as Vehicle Engineering in his 18 year career with GM.

Amin began his career with GM in 1996 as a Product Engineer in Advanced Product Development for Steering Systems. From there, he spent 12 years in Vehicle Engineering in positions of Steering Systems Lead Engineer as well as Interior Vehicle Systems Engineer and Engineering Group Manager on various programs.

In 2001, Amin transitioned to Global Purchasing and led teams in Door Trim, Instrument Panels, and Seats. He has led his teams through an historic number of global supplier crisis issues, including the tsunami in Japan, flooding in Pennsylvania and Thailand, four separate facility fires and two labor strikes.

Amin holds two advanced degrees: a Master’s degree in Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and an MBA from the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan State University. He enjoys traveling with his wife and two sons.
